Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Theatre Team and assume responsibility for the day-to-day management and delivery of HOME’s touring programme. You will work closely across departments to negotiate deal memos and contracts, maintain HOME’s internal calendar and manage project budgets.

Job Description

As part of our Theatre Team, you’ll provide vital support across projects and programs. Your role will include:

Programming

  • Develop and deliver programming for touring theatre, comedy and literature in Theatre 1, building audiences and strong relationships with artists and companies locally and nationally.
  • Seek and encourage opportunities to make the programme more inclusive for audiences, communities and artists.
  • Ensure programme content is well researched, effectively managed and aligned with organisational ambitions.
  • Lead on negotiations for touring work and maintain a wide network of programming contacts.
  • Act as the main internal and external contact for Theatre 1 productions.
  • Welcome visiting companies, deliver briefings and uphold HOME’s working standards.
  • Share accurate programme information with finance, development, engagement, marketing and technical teams.
  • Contribute to programming and pacing meetings and bring strong sector knowledge and connections.

Producing

  • Manage casting for Theatre 2 projects and improve producing team systems and processes.
  • Lead contractual negotiations with co producers, agents and independent creatives.
  • Support the Head of Theatre in drafting budgets and ensure all produced shows stay on budget.
  • Help define production parameters and attend performances, readings and events as required.

General

  • Attend weekly marketing, technical and theatre meetings.
  • Support the updating and maintenance of Yesplan.
  • Collaborate productively with all HOME staff to ensure strong production outcomes.

Additional Duties

  • Work in line with HOME’s commitment to accessibility and take part in training and working groups.
  • Act as an advocate for HOME and uphold values around diversity, sustainability, access, safeguarding, H&S and GDPR.
  • Stay up to date with financial, operational and administrative best practice.
  • Undertake additional duties as required, including evening and weekend work and national or international travel.

Job Requirements

  • Experience managing multiple projects of various scales and sizes
  • Experience of negotiating with agents
  • Excellent administration skills including the use of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong financial skills, including drafting and managing budgets
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to think out of the box to find a solution
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion throughout your work
  • Efficient at collaborative work
  • Have extensive experience programming at a mid-scale
  • A passion for theatre and good general knowledge of the sector
  • A passion for Regional Theatre and/or for the importance of local stories, talent, art, and community
  • Effective communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and act on own initiative
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
