The Project Coordinator will be the main responsible person for the smooth implementation of the project according to ILO rules, donor requirements and in line with project cycle management principles, and undertake the below mentioned duties.

Reporting lines:  

The Project Coordinator will report to the Director of the ILO Office for Türkiye .

Description of Duties:

  • Ensure effective implementation of the “Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture in Hazelnut Harvesting” project including timely provision of inputs and efficient delivery of outputs in line with ILO policies and project requirements.
  • Manage and oversee progress of the project and activities by reviewing, work-plans, progress reports and financial data ensuring, ensuring timely preparation and submission of project technical and financial reports.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of a sustainability plan to ensure the project’s long-term impact and continuity beyond the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project expenditure, budget realization, and delivery rates, suggesting necessary revisions and reallocations as needed.
  • Guide and oversee the work of the project’ staff to ensure effective coordination and collaboration between the various project components, as well as between the project and other DC projects implemented by ILO-Ankara. 
  • Provide support for establishing coordination mechanism among the beneficiary institutions, project stakeholders and target groups. 
  • Liaise with relevant technical departments at HQ including FUNDAMENTALS and ensure their involvement and technical support to the project activities.  
  • Brief ILO specialists, project experts, associate experts and visiting officials and provide relevant information on programme matters, where needed, under the over guidance of the Director. 
  • Oversee the organisation of conferences, seminars, workshops, training sessions and meetings.
  • Serve as a focal point for selected technical subjects and representing the project/ Office meetings, workshops and inter-agency meetings, and present reports and papers.
  • Manage to the selection and monitoring of national and international consultants; provide them with necessary background documentation and ensure availability of clear guidelines and terms of references for the expected work to be done. 
  • Identify national and international specialists and institutions to ensure that capacity building and technical guidance is provided as required to the direct and ultimate beneficiaries.
  • Review and utilize relevant documents/information on the child labour and seasonal agriculture workers in Türkiye that are produced by the Government, research institutions, universities, other UN agencies, and other development partners; and make use of them for better response to the child labour challenge in Türkiye.
  • Implement advanced data analytics to assess project impact, drive data-informed decision-making, and present findings in comprehensive reports to stakeholders and donors.
  • Undertake regular missions to project sites independently or accompanying others and conduct regular meetings with stakeholders and beneficiaries, and provide strategic advice on project progress and required actions.
  • Oversee the integration of technology solutions to improve project efficiency, such as digital tools for monitoring, reporting, and communication among stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director of ILO Office for Türkiye

Required qualifications:

Education:

  • First level university degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Economics, Business Administration or relevant fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of professional work experience in the fields of development cooperation projects, programming, project planning, management, implementation activities and monitoring.
  • Experience and knowledge and ILO’s work particularly in the areas of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, including child labour, and labour governance. 
  • Familiarity and previous work experience with ILO or other UN agencies would be an advantage. 
  • Knowledge on private sector engagement and operations in the field of child labour would be an asset. 
  • Experience in working with government institutions and social partners will be an asset.

Languages:

  • Excellent command of English and Turkish both oral and written.
