UNDP is seeking a Project Manager to oversee Phase 3, ensuring coordination between UNDP HQ, Country Offices, Swepa, and other partners.

Scope of Work:

Key Functions:

  • Project management (including planning and oversight of implementing partners)
  • Project coordination and knowledge sharing 
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Ensure effective project management.
  • Develop project planning process and ensure the work plan and a fully costed budget are prepared based on sound capacity assessments and in accordance with UNDP POPP/PPM Guidelines.
  • Ensure impactful delivery of joint global project in complex and sensitive policy area/fragile settings and across agendas that are not fully aligned and with multiple and changing demands.
  • Coordinate and directs work in a team of 20+ across multidisciplinary areas including through work planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Provide technical support to the implementing partners and act as a liaison between UNDP and the partners. 
  • Support resource mobilization efforts and project development. 
  • Lead project coordination and knowledge sharing.
  • Guide and support to Country Offices/Regional teams/other business units: Coordinate and provide policy and programme support to EGP country offices plus expanded group of countries through training, knowledge sharing and more.
  • Ensure the UN interagency coordination Supports inter-agency coordination on minerals, including the UN Working Group on Transforming Extractive Industries for Sustainable development/Critical Energy Minerals Initiative.
  • Guide and supports policy integration, coordination and collaboration across biodiversity, climate, governance, rule of law, human rights and other relevant teams and experts in ways that ensure strategic integration across portfolio and other relevant practice and policy areas, including preparation of briefing notes, speeches and talking points and roster management.
  • Share, scale and replicate EGP generated knowledge and learning internally and externally including through relevant GPN networks and community of practices and the UN Knowledge Hub on Extractive/Critical Minerals. Ensure that EGP training materials, tools and advocacy publications are needs driven, needs based, effectively produced and strategically disseminated.
  • Ensure Project Monitoring and Evaluation 
  • Coordinate the finalization of detailed results framework with a focus on agreed indicators and targets in close consultation with Swepa.Review the results framework and update the indicators, baselines, and targets of the assigned portfolio. 
  • Develop clear strategies and an effective system for data collection, means of verification, and information sharing and reporting.
  • Monitor implementation and progress in achieving goals and targets in accordance with the established quality criteria and UNDP rules, regulations, and standards. Identify, analyze, and take adequate measures to manage emerging issues, problems, and risks. Conduct field visits to project location sites.
  • The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization

Minimum Qualifications of the Successful IPSA:

Min Academic Education:

  • Advanced University degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Public Administration, Policy, Economics, Development Studies or other closely related field is required; or
  • A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the above-mentioned fields in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Min years of relevant Work experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years (with master’s degree) or 7 years (with bachelor’s degree) of professional experience delivery, coordination and management of programmes and projects related to sustainable development.

Required skills:

  • Experience in results-based and results-oriented portfolio/programme/project implementation and/or management. 
  • Experience in project planning, developing and monitoring work plans and budgets in the context of international organizations and/or UN.
  • Practical experience working with or interacting with donors’ institutions, in the field of environment and sustainable development.

Required Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required.
