Puppet Doctor aka Puppet Wrangler

TEG Live Europe and Life Like Touring are looking for an experienced Puppet Doctor (aka Puppet Wrangler) to be responsible for the management, upkeep and safety of our puppets for the upcoming UK tour of “Gabby’s Dollhouse Live!” from March – May 2026.

Candidates should be UK (ideally, London) based, have local work rights, and be available for all rehearsal and national tour dates from 2 March 2026 up to/around 3 May 2026. Rehearsals will be in London from 2 – 21 March, before heading off on tour.

Puppets are designed and built by A Blanck Canvas from Australia.

• UK Puppet Doctor will be trained in preparation for the tour, becoming familiar with puppet design and care processes, preparing puppets, puppet props and any related accessories to go on tour
• Learning skills to oversee upkeep, cleaning, housekeeping and the importance of quick response around issues that may arise before, during, and after performances
• Carry out the maintenance and repair of soft and hard fabrication puppet elements, internal mechanisms, LED and electronic elements, puppet-specific care processes, plus other puppet-related tour pre-production
• Handling and overseeing all puppet preventative, scheduled and emergency maintenance
• Assist with the unload, unpack, pack, load, set and strike of show elements as reasonably required to do so
• Responsible for being on-sight in the venue when puppets are being unloaded into the venue, providing oversight on placement of puppets backstage, stored post-performance, and at the end of the run fully packed on the truck, as applicable
• Checking all puppets before each performance or press/promo appearances to ensure they are presented to the highest show quality and standard
• Off stage puppet care and handling as needed during performances, rehearsals, press appearances
• Troubleshooting and performing repairs on puppets and props, as needed
• Spot cleaning puppets, as needed
• Ensuring that all puppets are being packed, stored, and transported safely
