Location: Remote, US-based candidates

Position Type: Contract-to-Hire, Flexible Schedule after probationary period

Payrate: $21 – $28 per hour

Job Description

Addison Group is hiring an experienced General Surgery Coder to join our client’s team. This position is perfect for a professional with solid general surgery coding expertise, particularly in gastrointestinal, neurosurgery, and spine procedures, along with endoscopic cases. This role will focus on precise abstraction and coding accuracy for complex surgical cases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform coding for advanced general surgery cases, including bowel resections, lesion excisions, colonoscopies, mastectomies, and debridements.
• Apply a deep knowledge of anatomy to coding procedures across gastrointestinal, orthopedic, and neurosurgery specialties.
• Interpret and apply E/M coding guidelines accurately.
• Utilize EPIC EMR software for documentation and coding management.
• Maintain compliance with coding standards and meet quality and productivity metrics.

Qualifications:

• Certification: Must hold a current CPC or CCS (CCS-P preferred); other certifications are beneficial but cannot replace CPC or CCS.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in coding complex general surgery, particularly with E/M coding expertise.
• Skills: Strong background in anatomy and coding for gastrointestinal, spine, and neurosurgery cases.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and communicate effectively with coding managers.

Work Schedule

• Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 3 PM MST, with 2 additional hours before or after this block as needed.
• Flexibility: After 90 days, candidates in good standing can transition to a flexible schedule, including the option for four 10-hour days.

Position Benefits

• Access to corporate AAPC membership for covered annual dues after transitioning to permanent.
• CEUs available through monthly education sessions provided by the client.

Role Specifics

• Interviews: First interview with Director of Coding and Coding Manager.
• Start Date: Immediate openings; interviews available upon successful completion of a general surgery coding assessment.
• Equipment: Provided by the client.
• Compensation: $21 – $28 per hour
