About the role:
 
The Research and Transfer Manager (EU Grants) at Constructor University will play a key role in securing and managing EU-funded research projects. The position focuses on supporting faculty and researchers in developing competitive grant proposals, ensuring compliance with EU regulations, and overseeing the financial and administrative aspects of funded projects. This role will work closely with the Director of Research and Transfer to strengthen the university’s participation in European research programs and enhance its visibility in international funding consortia.
 
1. EU Grant Acquisition & Management
  • Identify funding opportunities from Horizon Europe, ERC, Marie Skłodowska-Curie, and other EU programs.
  • Support faculty and research teams in writing and submitting grant proposals.
  • Manage the financial, administrative, and legal aspects of awarded grants.
  • Ensure compliance with EU funding guidelines, including audit preparation and reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (e. g., Finance, HR, Legal) to streamline grant administration.
2. Research Support & Capacity Building
  • Provide training and workshops on EU grant writing, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Develop internal resources and templates to support proposal development.
  • Assist researchers in forming strong consortia and collaborations with European partners.
  • Mentor early-career researchers on navigating EU funding structures.
3. External Relations & Partnerships
  • Act as the main liaison for EU funding agencies and partner institutions.
  • Support the negotiation of research agreements and consortium contracts.
  • Represent the university in EU research networks and consortia.
  • Strengthen ties with industry and policy-makers for collaborative funding opportunities.
4. Policy Development & Compliance
  • Ensure all EU-funded projects comply with Horizon Europe and other relevant guidelines.
  • Maintain internal policies and best practices for grant acquisition and management.
  • Monitor changes in EU research funding regulations and advise leadership accordingly.
Your qualifications
 
1. Professional Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in research grant management, preferably within EU-funded projects.
  • Proven track record in securing and managing Horizon Europe, ERC, or Marie Skłodowska-Curie grants.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and audits for EU research projects.
  • Strong background in contract negotiation and compliance within a university or research institution.
  • Familiarity with technology transfer and intellectual property management is a plus.
2. Skills & Competencies
  • Grant Writing & Project Management: Strong ability to prepare compelling proposals and oversee project execution.
  • Financial & Legal Expertise: Understanding of EU grant funding mechanisms, reporting, and compliance.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Excellent verbal and written skills, especially for engaging with funding agencies and partners.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to navigate complex grant regulations and resolve administrative challenges.
3. Knowledge
  • EU Research Ecosystem: In-depth understanding of Horizon Europe, ERC, and related funding instruments.
  • Intellectual Property & Commercialization: Awareness of IP management within research projects.
  • University Research Administration: Familiarity with academic research environments and cross-institutional collaborations.
4. Language Proficiency
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Proficiency in German is preferred but not mandatory.
5. Educational Background
  • Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field (e. g., Research Management, Business Administration, Science, or Engineering).
  • Willingness to travel: Occasional (EU research meetings, consortia gatherings, and conferences)
