Position Summary:

  • Work closely with advanced mass spectrometry data, specifically focusing on matrix-assisted laser desorption (MALDI) techniques.

  • Develop and implement an alignment algorithm for mass spectrometry data preprocessing to correct shifts in m/z values across different experiments.

  • Apply the developed algorithm to additional datasets, involving data preprocessing, alignment execution, and results evaluation.

  • Assess the algorithm’s performance using metrics like alignment accuracy, precision, and recall.

  • Collaborate in improving the research paper by providing evidence of the algorithm’s effectiveness, discussing its limitations, and revising the manuscript as a co-author.

  • Engage with mass spectrometry and statistical modeling tools, utilizing Python libraries such as PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related).

  • Proficiency in Python and related libraries (PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy, SciPy).

  • Experience in statistical modeling, statistical learning, and working with mass spectrometry data.

  • Academic writing and communication skills with a track record of presenting research at international venues.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 0-4.
