Research Associate in Remote Monitoring in Epilepsy INTERNAL ONLY

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent PhD graduate to continue an existing research project called ‘[email protected]’. This project is investigating whether people with epilepsy can self-record EEG at home every day, and whether the EEG information (in combination with information from a smartwatch) can be used to forecast seizure risk.  

The postholder will be responsible for completing any ongoing data collection, and analysis of data to reach project milestones and deliverables. Full familiarity with the project is required, and full familiarity with the data analysis methods is required. 

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 9 months 

This is a full-time post – 100% full time equivalent

•        Maintain contact with any ongoing study participants to ensure data collection is completed  

•        Assemble and curate a full dataset from the entire cohort of participants 

•        Undertake quantitative analyses of EEG, smartwatch and other data, in collaboration with other team members as needed 

•        Undertake qualitative analyses of data, in collaboration with other team members as needed 

•        Ensure compliance with all ethical and regulatory requirements 

•        Draft manuscripts for publication 

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.  

Essential criteria  

1.      PhD in remote monitoring methods applied to epilepsy 

2.      Full familiarity with the [email protected] project 

3.      Familiarity with ANT Neuro EEG cap and amplifier system 

4.      Familiarity with collecting research data using FitBit 

5.      Familiarity with analysis methods suitable to analyse the data in [email protected] 

Desirable criteria

1.      Available for immediate start 

Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
