Posting Summary 

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV (RTS-IV) with the Rutgers Cancer Institute- Pediatrics/PHO/Pediatric Population Science Department.

Under the direction of the Section Chief or Program Development Specialist I, the RTS-IV will conduct highly specialized and technical research for the pediatric population science, outcomes, and disparities sciences research section.

Among the key duties for this position are the following:

• Participates in all aspects of research and ensures compliance with study protocols. Monitors progress of projects. Reports to the Section Chief, Program Development Specialist I, and/or Principal Investigator on project progress, problems, and the need for adjustments.
• Recruits, screens, consents, and enrolls participants for studies per project timelines. Ensures participant completion of study activities per protocol. Maintains study recruitment, accrual, and participation documents.
• Creates surveys using survey software programs as directed. Conducts focus groups, interviews, usability testing sessions, and administers surveys per study protocol. Abstracts information from medical records per protocol, maintaining confidentiality of data.
• Responsible for study data entry, data management, preliminary data screening, and data cleaning throughout the project. As directed, provides support in other data processing and analysis. Prepares reports containing findings, analysis, conclusion and recommendations (i.e., grants, narratives, position papers, etc.), as requested.
• Research activities may require flexible (i.e., evening or weekend) activities on occasion per project demands.
• Assists with progress reports, administrative, regulatory, and study accrual/progress updates for all assigned studies.

Minimum Education and Experience 

• Master’s Degree in a relevant Science (e.g., Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, Health Education) or Bachelor’s Degree plus one (1) year experience required in a relevant science or related field (e.g., Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, Health Education).
• Equivalent experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

Certifications/Licenses 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

• Demonstrated detail orientation; strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, multi-tasking, prioritizing, and interpersonal skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
• Preferred Qualifications
• At least one (1) year of behavioral science research is preferred.
• Skills with survey building software such as REDCap and Qualtrics preferred.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
