The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Preclinical Therapeutics Program (PTP) is seeking a team-oriented, self-motivated Researcher to join a dynamic group of research technologists focused on providing a comprehensive suite of resources for preclinical therapeutic development. This support includes model development and xenografting, treatment with novel therapeutics, study observation, and therapy response determination using imaging readouts and routine data processing. This is a dynamic laboratory environment where you will work with researchers involved in innovative translational research to fulfill our mission: Finding Cures. Saving Children.
The successful candidate will work with scientists and other research personnel, supporting a wide array of preclinical studies. The candidate’s main duties will be to perform animal study technical support, bioluminescence imaging, and analyze the results. The individual will also need to develop collaborative relationships with other research laboratories and program managers to understand project needs and facilitate their preclinical study needs. The candidate will also perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department, including study management, image processing, managing laboratory supplies, and routine instrument maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Performs laboratory experiments as directed using specific and prescribed techniques/protocols.
- Follows basic protocols, implements experimental techniques prescribed by supervisor, and provides basic troubleshooting where appropriate.
- Accurately records experimental procedures and data.
- May draft results/data for posters, presentations or publications
- Operates lab equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance
Preferred Skills:
- Prior preclinical imaging experience is desired
- Experience in animal handling, housing maintenance, and feeding procedures, ensuring adherence to ethical guidelines and welfare standards
- Basic understanding of anatomy and aseptic techniques.
- Experience in dose Administration, Sample Collection, and Data Recording
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with members of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong computer and technical skills for the acquisition and analysis of data.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $24.00 – $42.00 per hour for the role of Researcher for Preclinical Therapeutics Program (PTP).
