KUSD teachers enjoy many benefits including a four-day work week and a school calendar that features breaks in the Fall, Winter, and Spring, as well as six weeks off in the summer! The Monday through Thursday work week and 148-day contract provide for a work-life balance difficult to match. This regular, full-time teaching position for our 2024-2025 school year is at Kingman Unified School District’s Black Mountain School in Golden Valley, AZ. Black Mountain is a K-8 school and they are known as the Panthers! Mr. Emborsky the school Principal goes by the motto of “Panther P.R.I.D.E” – Positive, Respectful, Intellectual, Dedicated & Engaged!

July 10, 2024 – May 21, 2025

Starting Salary Range $43,825 – $55,725

KUSD’s minimum and maximum new hire salary ranges for teachers include the district’s contracted salary, determined by years of experience and higher education, plus $6,750 in state-funded Prop 301 money. The contracted salary in combination with the $6,750 in 301 money creates the base wages for teachers, which are represented by the salary ranges. In addition to base pay, certified teaching staff are eligible for an additional $3,750 in Prop 301 performance pay. The total Prop 301 money for teachers in 2024-25 is expected to be $10,500. Prop 301 money is paid separately and not included in the employment contract.

Candidates offered and accepting critical needs teaching positions in math, science, and kindergarten may be eligible to receive a one-time $2,000 stipend. Candidates offered and accepting critical needs teaching positions in special education may be eligible to receive a one-time $5,000 stipend and are eligible for an additional case management stipend in FY 2024-25 of up to $4,000. All critical needs stipends are pending appropriate teaching certification.

To Qualify: Bachelor’s or more advanced degree from an accredited institution An Identity Verified Print (IVP) fingerprint clearance card through Arizona Department of Public Safety, or ability to obtain prior to start date Teaching certification through Arizona Department of Education: One of the following: • Mild/Moderate Disabilities certificate • Cross-Categorical Special Education • Special Education ID • Special Education LD • Special Education ED • Standard Professional teaching certificate with a Provisional or Full Mild/Moderate Disabilities, PreK-12 endorsement SEI, ESL or Bilingual Endorsement issued by Arizona Department of Education, within one year of hire Arizona offers an alternative path to certification for those with a Bachelor’s or more advanced degree who would like to pursue a career in teaching. Individuals pursuing a teaching career through this alternative pathway must enroll in a teacher preparation program approved by the Arizona Department of Education and obtain an Alternative Teaching Certificate to be eligible for hire.
