S.E.N. Teaching Assistant

Contract type: 30.83 hours a week 8.50 – 3.30 pm

Salary: Grade 4 £18,264 (actual salary)

Contract term: Fixed term for one year in the first instance

Silkstone Primary is a happy, community school with a well-established staff team, supportive parents, a dedicated governing body and children who are a joy to teach. The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced S.E.N. Teaching Assistant to join our successful, hardworking and happy team. The successful candidate will support teaching and learning in class, following direction from the Class Teacher working with an individual child with Special Educational Needs to support them to achieve their potential and thrive.

Applications from experienced teaching assistants and those with S.E.N experience are warmly welcomed. This post is also well suited to those who are interested in a career in teaching and would like to gain experience prior to teacher training.

The successful candidate will have the skills required to work as a supportive member of a staff team, the minimum educational qualifications being 4 GCSEs at grade A-C including English and Maths or equivalent.

• experience of working with children with SEND
• able to use their initiative and be creative in their approach to learning
• enthusiastic and dedicated to enabling every child to fulfil their potential
• able to set and achieve high standards and expectations of learning, behaviour and care
• willing to form strong professional relationships with other professionals and parents
• has a positive attitude, patience and a sense of humour
