As the California Virtual Academies are public schools and this is a public school teacher position, these are set contracted hours and you must be available/working during these hours while under contract with the California Virtual Academies. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.

August 2025- Immediate hires as needed throughout the 2025-2026 school year. We are an enrollment based school, we may need to hire teachers at any time throughout the year as our enrollment continues to grow.

Teachers service students within their county of residence. TK-8 teacher postings are listed by county as we service students and hire in most California counties, except the following 16 counties: Alpine, Del Norte, El Dorado, Glenn, Humboldt, Lassen, Mariposa, Modoc, Nevada, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama, Tuolumne, and Trinity.

ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND TK-8 TEACHER POSITIONS: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily, complete all assignments, and attend required live instructional sessions. K12, inc. is our curriculum provider. Teachers meet with students daily in virtual classrooms to provide standards-based targeted instruction that meets the needs of the students, as well as support students in coursework, provide additional one-to-one support, provide feedback, and grade student work. Teachers build lasting relationships with their students through consistent outreach throughout the school year and monitor attendance and engagement. Additionally, teachers provide interventions as needed to ensure students remain engaged and grow academically. Teacher’s classes are generally made up of a single grade level in either elementary (TK-5) or middle school (6-8) students. Teachers are required to connect virtually with students once per month at a minimum and attend/coordinate in-person events once per quarter. All teachers are required to proctor state testing which may be in-person or virtual.
