Description

The School of Applied Sciences and Arts, in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts, at Arizona State University invites applications to establish a pool for Faculty Associates of English for the 2024-2025 academic year. Faculty Associates will be assigned to either the Downtown Phoenix campus or the Polytechnic campus. The successful candidate(s) will teach undergraduate on-ground courses in First Year Composition; prepare class materials; evaluate student work; and hold office hours to assist students. Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Candidates must reside in Arizona.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in English or related field at time of appointment
• Experience teaching in an LMS such as Canvas
• Minimum of one year post-secondary experience teaching First Year Composition courses
• Evidence of effective teaching
• Commitment to inclusive excellence and working with various faculty, staff, students, and communities to advance the ASU Charter
• Ability to teach in person on the Downtown Phoenix campus or the Polytechnic campus
• Excellent English written and spoken communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Doctoral or terminal degree in English or related field at time of appointment
• Evidence of scholarly or creative activities aligned with degree
• Experience teaching composition for second language learners
• Evidence of activities consistent with the ASU Charter and Design Aspirations
