Job Advert – Somalia/Somaliland Country Office

Title: HMIS Officer

ROLE PURPOSE:

Under the general guidance of CS Programme Manager, the HMIS Officer will take overall responsibility of the day-to-day implementation of the HMIS components in health and nutrition Programme in Somaliland. Among his/her tasks will be leading coordination of information management activities with the SC/ MOH staffs at the health facilities and work closely with the district health management team. Organise M&E activities and assist in the management of monitoring information, in order to support the delivery of high quality and effective health Programming. The HMIS Officer will be responsible for the quality and accuracy of the health and nutrition Programme activities in Somaliland.

Staff reporting to this post:  HMIS data Clerk at facility level

Location: Hargeisa

Dimension of Role:

Save the Children has been working in Somalia/Somaliland for more than 60 years. The Country Office has over 500 staff across. In 2022, as a result of significant scale up for the countrywide drought response, our annual spend FY2017 was US$117 million and we reached more than 2 million people through our humanitarian and longer-term development work in Health, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Education, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Child Protection and Child Rights Governance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES:

Essential

 

• BSC Nursing, BSC Public Health, BSC health Information system management and degree in social sciences/Statistics/Computer Science/another relevant field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimal 3 years’ relevant experience (HMIS experience)
• Commitment to and understanding Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
• Experience in Ministry of Health information system management at all health care levels (district hospital, health centre and primary health unit)
• Training in Data Monitoring and basic descriptive analysis
• Strong organisational and analytical skills and ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and community mobilisation skills.
• Highly motivated, and flexible.
• Excellent computer skills particularly in Access, SPSS, EPI Info and Excel
• Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
