Job Description
Teaching Artists are established music educators who bring a high level of artistry and well-developed educational practice and pedagogy. They have a deep understanding of the Ark Schools Music Programme and our approach to inclusive music making. Teaching Artists share Ark’s belief that all pupils can be musicians regardless of their background and consistently deliver work of the highest quality, leading to excellent musical results.
Teaching Artists are able to: work independently to plan and lead classes, rehearsals and workshops; share practice with school teachers; and offer training/support to less-experienced artists and Music Mentors. Teaching Artists may be invited to take a leading role in the design and content of event days and programmes of study for our pupils (such as Spark/Fusion, One Voice etc.)
Job Requirements
This role includes working alongside the Ark Music team, the school (or schools) you will be based in, and working with artists across other schools with regards to areas outlined in ‘job responsibilities’
You will deliver school choir across 30 weeks, 60mins p/week – arranging this around your availability in collaboration with the school:
1 launch assembly
26 rehearsals
3 termly community sharing events
You will facilitate across two network events
Spring term – date TBC
Summer term – date TBC
