CONTEXT:
Since 2021 ACF has been implementing the “Enhancing the Self-Reliance Refugees through Integrated Livelihoods and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support” project in Irbid, Mafraq and Zarqa. This project aims to build resilience and improve the economic outcomes for refugees and vulnerable Jordanian communities in these locations. ACF along with its partners is engaged in the provision of both community-based MHPSS services as well as specialized services. In order to provide clinical and technical support to ACF and partner’s MHPSS teams, we are looking for an external Senior Clinical Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to: Deputy Country Director Programs, under the supervision of the MHPSS Regional Technical advisor.

Collaboration with: MHPSS Deputy Project Manager, Project Manager
Unit/department: MHPSS Department
Location: Amman – Irbid – Mafraq – Zarqa

Overall purpose of the role:
Ensuring clinical supervision, and more generally contribute to capacity building, of ACF and
partner’s MHPSS teams, guaranteeing quality of care and adherence to best clinical practices and ethical standards.
Clinical supervision is integral in assuring quality and safety of services delivered by ACF’s and partners’ psychologists and psychosocial workers. The purpose of clinical supervision is to facilitate reflective practice and promote identification with the profession of MHPSS in humanitarian settings while promoting self-care. The Senior Clinical Supervisor will work with the Deputy Project Manager, under supervision of the MHPSS Regional Technical Advisor.

Objective 1: Ensure clinical supervision of ACF psychologists and partner’s psychosocial workers
• Conduct weekly group clinical supervision with ACF Psychologists , focused on reflective practice, on therapeutic alliance and relationship, on cases follow-up and treatment, as well on secondary traumatic stress inherent in the nature of MHPSS service provision in Jordan
• Conduct monthly clinical supervision with ACF partner PSS workers, focused on reflective practice, on therapeutic alliance and relationship, on cases follow-up and treatment, as well on secondary traumatic stress inherent in the nature of MHPSS service provision in Jordan
• Provide ad-hoc individual supervision to psychologists and psychosocial workers, on demand, related to challenging cases through case studies, didactics, coaching and mentoring, face to face ideally, but remain available for remote support (the individual supervision shall not exceed 2 per month and per staff).

Objective 2: Contribute to technical capacity building of ACF and partner’s teams

– Conduct monthly field visits and group technical supervision in collaboration with Deputy PM, to-supervise the quality implementation of protocols of intervention of ACF team and partners
– Contribute to identify the training needs and professional development of psychologists and psychosocial workers
– Contribute to the design of training and IEC material in collaboration with the DPM and the RTA if needed

REQUESTED PROFILE:
Level of education and experience:
– 5+ years of experience as psychologist, counsellor or therapist; with adults and children is an asset
– 3+ years of experience in a similar role in clinical supervision of mental health professionals ; individually and group is an asset
– Experience in humanitarian context is an asset
– Master or PHD degree in psychology; clinical psychology is an asset

Technical and transversal competencies:
• Excellent clinical supervision skills, based on structured and validated approaches
• Ability to propose different ways of providing supervision to MHPSS staff
• Skills and experience in working on post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) and secondary traumatic stress in crisis situation or humanitarian settings
• Knowledge, experience or practice of EMDR, GTEP, RTEP, IGTP, ASSYST … is an asset
• Excellent listening skills
• Knowledge, experience or practice of humanitarian tools such as mhGAP, PM+, Thinking Healthy, IPT, EASE etc is an asset
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of patients
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
• Good understanding of the current Ukrainian psychological and humanitarian context
• Competencies in creating training material and facilitate training for psychologists and mental health professionals
• Capacity to anticipate needs and challenges for staff capacity building
• Ability to communicate adequately in English, verbally and written
• Ability to solve interpersonal conflicts

Languages:
– Full proficiency in spoken and written Arabic
– Fluency in spoken and written English

SPECIFIC CONDITIONS :
– Consultant contract under Jordanian legislation: 9 months (extendable based on performance and need)
– The consultant will work with his own material (computer, phone, internet)
– ACF will ensure the printing and provide copies of documents needed for the clinical supervision
– The consultant will be expected to use their own means of transport to reach Mafraq, Irbid and Zarqa.
