Job Summary

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst who understands the power of data as a storytelling tool and has a strong track record of using cultural data to inform strategic decision-making. Salary – £45,000 pro rata. Hours – Part-time (18.5 hours per week). Fixed term until 31st October 2028.

Job Description

Primary Purpose of Role

The Senior Data Analyst will oversee the development and delivery of the Sea for Yourself Data Insights programme of work, and the interlinked strands of activity – namely the development of the Cultural Index and Data Infrastructure work stream.

The role holder will bring together sources of data and information and use analytical tools and expertise to present data insights to the project partnership. This will support the partnership to set targets and undertake strategic planning, in relation to audience development strategies, in- formed by high quality data and insights.

The role holder will be responsible for the development of dashboards to present datasets in a user-friendly format that enables partners to answer questions quickly and easily. Given the over- sight for this programme of work the role will have a responsibility to convene partners and sup- port a learning culture to build capacity and capability. This includes sharing best practice across national networks.

The role holder will support partners, individually and collectively, to interpret data and apply in- sights to decision making throughout the life of the programme. The role holder will be considered the partners data expert and will advise on all aspects of data ethics related to the programme.

The main source of data will come from the Cultural Index and Data Infrastructure work streams, both contracted to external providers, so the Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for project managing these elements to completion and ensuring full integration.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Education and training
Educated to degree level or equivalent industry experience in a relevant subject area

  • Experience of supporting complex processes with effective communication skills

  • The interpersonal skills required to build effective relationships across multi-partner projects

  • Experience of delivering high quality data analysis, interpretation and advice, utilising a wide range of data

  • Knowledge of appropriate systems and platforms to design accessible data dashboards and visualisations that support decision-making

  • The skills to undertake complex statistical analysis

  • The skills to undertake qualitative data analysis

  • Extensive experience managing the successful delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder, strategic projects

  • Experience translating complex challenges into logical, systematic, and phased, project approaches

  • Knowledge of Plymouth and the cultural landscape
