We have an exciting opportunity in the newly formed Enterprise Data Office (EDO) with its mandate to serve the business leaders and stakeholders at StackAdapt with trusted data, standard reporting frameworks and tools, and governed reporting and self-service analytics. Reporting to the Staff BI Architect, the Senior Enterprise BI Developer will be responsible for the development, maintenance, support, and administration of reports and dashboards leveraging the Business Intelligence (BI) platforms managed by the EDO, such as Tableau and ThoughtSpot.
The Senior Enterprise BI Developer will build official KPI reports and dashboards requested by various business departments, leveraging the business-friendly BI semantic models developed by the BI Architect, as well as contribute to the evolution of these models and the design of new models. This role is also responsible for supporting various business analytics functions to self-service the build of their own reports and dashboards using the federated BI semantic models.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop official KPI reports and dashboards based on specifications from the BI architect
  • Develop and evolve intermediate data structures such as datamarts, views, and materialized views that will be sourced for reports and dashboards
  • Build and evolve domain-focused, business-friendly semantic models based on design from BI and data architect to enable unified reporting and self-service analytics
  • Extend the out-of box BI capabilities using the platform’s SDK for custom functionalities
  • Evaluate new BI advanced functionalities for potential future roll-out e.g.,: (generative AI and Slack integration)
  • Set up the orchestration of BI assets in accordance with reporting requirements for seamless operations that adhere to established reporting SLAs
  • Support other StackAdapt department analysts with reporting and self-service analytics requirements
  • Administer the BI platform with RBAC to ensure appropriate access for users and reports
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the EDO BI assets by investigating, troubleshooting, and remediating production issues raised internally or by business users
  • Coach and mentor junior and intermediate BI developers as the EDO team grows

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in BI development within an enterprise BI function using platforms such as ThoughtSpot, Tableau, Looker, Microstrategy etc.
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience using and evolving BI semantic layer/models that satisfies dual use official KPI reporting and self-service analytics
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL (e.g.,: CTEs, pivots, joins, and the ability to codify complex queries)
  • Hands-on experience querying cloud-based data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery) hosted on a public cloud infrastructure (e.g.,: AWS/AZURE/GCP)
  • Prior experience extending capabilities of BI platforms through SDK and plug-ins
  • Fluent in data visualization and the use of appropriate visuals for different metrics
  • Strong understanding of UX best practices for effective dashboard design
  • Experience implementing advanced BI functionalities such as mobile, NLQ, writeback, embedded etc.. a strong asset
  • Hands-on skills administering BI platform implementing RBAC to ensure appropriate access is given for users to specific BI assets
  • Experience training non-technical business users to effectively self-service on BI
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively with peers and clients
