International Meetings and Science (IMsci), a division of Wunderman Thompson Health, works with companies to build world-class healthcare and pharmaceutical brands among medical professionals and consumers, with a transmedia storytelling approach that covers medical education strategies.

Who we are looking for:

IMsci is seeking a Senior Medical Director to join the team in our Stamford, CT office. As a Senior Medical Director you will contribute on multiple teams for various clients and will champion the scientific integrity of our work product. You will partner with clients, opinion leaders, other internal and external scientific professionals, as well as with Account Services team to ensure ongoing, positive relationships with our clients.

What you’ll do:

  • Be a brand champion, ensuring all agency efforts align with the brand’s best interests and maximize scientific data.
  • Manage multiple accounts scientifically, overseeing strategic and scientific aspects of medical communication tactics, meetings, and programs.
  • Ensure client satisfaction, scientific rigor, accuracy, and strategic excellence across all projects.
  • Review scientific content for accuracy and manage freelance writers, providing direction and ensuring projects align with strategy.
  • Coach, manage, mentor, and provide direction to Scientific Associates, Associate Medical Directors, and Medical Directors.
  • Maintain full command of and adherence to internal processes, ensuring staff compliance and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Identify and resolve client conflicts efficiently, taking responsibility for client satisfaction and strengthening relationships.
  • Develop and oversee projects requiring a high degree of scientific and/or technical understanding.
  • Proactively suggest innovative ways to present data and engage in client interactions, addressing content-related questions.
  • Ensure high-quality agency output, promoting consistently superior creative and innovative products.
  • Participate in the development of breakthrough programs grounded in strong science.
  • Read, interpret, and distill content from medical journal articles and clinical study reports for scientific and marketing messages.
  • Conduct hands-on medical writing, editing, and re-writing.
  • Involve in new business opportunities, identifying and securing business opportunities on accounts.
  • Liaise with clients and fulfill client requests, providing proactive written recommendations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the therapeutic market and share timely information about market changes.
  • Work in partnership with account services and editorial departments, establishing good relationships with key opinion leaders.

Who you are:

  • Problem solver Ensure quality control by reviewing agency products including: creative work, key client communications, key schedules, creative strategies, and strategic decks. Assist with day-to-day problem-solving by providing guidance to freelancers and raise issues and solutions to senior team. Dig in and figure out how to work around problems.
  • Ego-less We all wear the hats that need wearing, it’s a mentality that makes the team successful.

What you’ll need:

  • Advanced degree in biomedical sciences (MD, PhD, Pharm D)
  • 5+ years previous experience at medical communications agency
  • Experience in multiple therapeutic areas
  • Experience managing multiple teams and client accounts
  • Multiple, successful new business pitches
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Internet search, Pubmed
  • Leadership skills
  • Passionate about the medical education/communication business
  • Strong scientific and medical communications acumen
