If so, our Ottawa based client is looking for a Senior Policy Analyst to help formulate policy to better inform the federal government, and government at all levels, about issues that affect our members.

From a data driven and unbiased perspective we are looking for a candidate who will:.

  • Research and assess investments made by building trades in apprenticeship training, journey person upgrading and training centres
  • Complete an environmental scaan of construction procurement practices by governments and private sector buyers of construction
  • Initiate and complete various impact studies
  • Monitor and analyse policy initiatives related to research, innovation and the economy in general and in construction specifically
  • Produce policy briefing notes and conduct stakeholder sessions on relevant issues
  • Lead reports for internal and external partners and stakeholders
  • Contribute to policy analysis on emerging issues, which may include; producing backgrounders, briefing notes, proposals, etc.

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A post secondary degree in the social sciences and/or statistics/economics
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with large multi-faceted stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated experience working with data from a variety of sources
  • Demonstrated experience in, and knowledge of, Canada’s policy landscape ideally with some exposure to the unionized construction industry
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, with demonstrated strong organizational and project management skills
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills (Bilingualism an asset)

  • Location: Onsite position located in Ottawa, Ontario
  • Compensation: $75,0000 to $85,000 + benefits
