The Senior Research Officer will be responsible for designing and implementing qualitative data collection, analysis to attain study objectives for conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Principal Investigator (PI) in creating detailed research design and methodology to achieve the study objectives;
  • Circulate new protocol drafts internally and externally, seek feedback and modify accordingly; Coordinate with Research Administration (RA) for approvals for research-related activities;
  • Impart quality training for field staff on qualitative research methods, project design and methods, qualitative research tools, field procedures, data coding and analysis;
  • Create detailed project plan covering milestones, deliverables etc.; Assign work to team members and initiate activities as per project plan;
  • Develop and revise tools; Prepare research communication materials;
  • Supervise data collection and perform quality assurance activities, conduct periodic field visits for coordination and mitigating operational challenges;
  • Analyze qualitative data and draw scientific inferences;
  • Prepare presentation slides and assist the PI in making presentation in different scientific forum;
  • Write study reports and articles for peer-reviewed journals;
  • Conduct peer reviews of manuscripts of other researchers.

Required qualification and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Anthropology from reputed institute with excellent academic records.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in qualitative research in public health (preferably in maternal, newborn and child health/ adolescent health /sexual and reproductive health and rights) with strong interpersonal and excellent communication and writing skills in English.
  • Must have strong critical thinking skills, ability to identify substantive problems that threaten to the research activities and creative capacity to resolve these problems. S/he should be proactive, dynamic, and capable of working independently.
