The School of Global Health at York University invites highly qualified applicants for a Sessional Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream position in Experiential Education in Global Health. This is a Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA) to the teaching stream for a three-year term to commence July 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will have experience teaching global health, public health, or related disciplines at the university level with strong knowledge of global health issues and approaches; experience with interdisciplinary and innovative teaching methods; demonstrated ability to teach medium and large classes, including blended learning environments; demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization in teaching and learning; and a demonstrated commitment to enhancing student experiences inside and/or outside the classroom through experiential education.

The successful candidate will be expected to enhance teaching and learning through creative experiential educational opportunities inside and/or outside the classroom. They will contribute to the core and elective courses of the global health undergraduate program. We encourage experienced instructors who can deliver high-quality instruction and experiential education across the global health undergraduate program to apply. Those with expertise and previous experience in teaching some of the following courses are especially encouraged to apply: IHST 1020 (Agents of Change in a Global World); GH 2000 (Global Health Policy: Power and Politics); GH 2010 (Methods and Approaches in Global Health Research); GH 3000 (Epidemiology and Global Health); GH 3100 (Communicable Diseases and Care); GH 3200 (Creating Intercultural Safety); GH 3550 (Global Health Architecture); GH 3740 (Health Care Planning for Communities); GH 4100 (Policy and Program Evaluation in Global Health); GH 4200 (Global Health Governance and Leadership); as well as GH 4600 (Practicum Professionalization Seminar); GH 4601 (Global Health Practicum); and GH 4602 (Applied Global Health Research Capstone).

Candidate Qualifications:
Degree: PhD or PhD equivalent (e.g., MD) from the health sciences, social sciences, or humanities and a record of academic experience in a global health-related field is required.

Teaching:
• A record or evident promise of excellence in teaching and dedication to students (e.g., university level teaching accomplishments, pedagogical innovations, student and/or peer evaluations).
• A strong commitment to pedagogy and student success, the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to experiential education teaching, learning and program design, and evidence of good judgment and a reflective approach to innovation in teaching. Experience with curriculum development and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment is preferred.
• The successful candidate will be familiar with a range of pedagogical, philosophical, and disciplinary lenses relevant to global health and demonstrated expertise in, at least, one of the following: health promotion, population health, social determinants of health, health advocacy, global governance, and/or intersectional, anti-colonial, or anti-oppression frameworks.

Additional: Experience working outside of academia in global health policy or practice would be an asset but is not required.
