Job Description

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a highly collaborative team, assisting in the provision, and the delivery of, a quality curriculum. You will assist in driving improvements in performance, and enhancing outcomes in the engagement, achievement, and progression, of learners.

  • Remote and face to face working options available.
  • Opportunities are available in Maidstone, Bishop Auckland, Peterlee, and Nottingham – please state your preference of location upon application.

About You

You are a great communicator: You will have the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form, building positive and professional relationships with stakeholders such as students, colleagues, and parents/carers.

You are flexible, creative, motivated, inclusive, and adaptable: You will be flexible and enthusiastic, with great time management skills. You will advocate for, and drive, a culture of trust and respect between all staff and students, where students are treated as young adults who need some support to prepare for independence, and for the world of work. You will be a role model for inclusive learning and the recognition and celebration of diversity.

You are experienced, and knowledgeable: You will have a robust knowledge of behavioural techniques, and their application. You will also have experience of working with young people, including those with complex, behavioural, and additional learning needs, which strengthens your ability to cope with emotionally demanding situations. You will be able to effectively use a variety of teaching and organisational styles and resources, including ICT, to deliver outstanding teaching and learning.

Experience:

  • Experience of working with disengaged or hard to reach young people.
  • Experience of delivering and planning lessons, preferably in curriculum areas such as English, Maths, and PSHE/Employability.
  • Experience with safeguarding procedures, and promoting the welfare of learners.

Knowledge:

  • An extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use, and adapt, a range of teaching, learning, and behaviour management strategies, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential.
  • A sound knowledge of planning and assessment techniques.
  • A secure knowledge and understanding of subject(s) / curriculum area(s), and related pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of the statutory requirements of equality and diversity, health and safety, safeguarding, and child protection.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively with students with complex needs.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, to deliver a holistic educational package.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Ability to work at a minimum of Level 2, in English and Maths.
  • Desirable: Degree in a related subject, a recognised teaching qualification e.g. level 5.

Additional Information

Hours of work: 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

Contract: Sessional Contract (term-time only)

Flexibility: Options for both remote and face to face working are available – please state your preference upon application.

Location: Opportunities are available in Maidstone, Bishop Auckland, Peterlee, and Nottingham – please state your preference of location upon application.
