SOS–International Membership and Engagement Manager

SOS–International is looking for a new Membership and Engagement Manager to engage, empower and
support SOS-International members and the Green Office Movement.

ROLE SPECIFICS

Location: Open to applicants in the UK, or any European country with a Green Office. For
applicants based outside of the UK, a host organisation will be sought or the role will be
offered on a contractor basis. We would be delighted for a Green Officer to offer hosting of
this role and SOS-International will cover the cost.

Working patterns: 35 hours per week. Typical working times will between 9-5 Monday to Friday,
although SOS-UK offers flexible working patterns subject to individual agreement. Some meetings
and events will take place in the evening or in the weekend and work patterns may vary due to
working across different time zones.

Job share considered.

Salary: Starting salary starting salary £42,076 per annum, rising to £46,582. For employees
based in the UK we provide up to 6% pension contribution, with life assurance for all those in
the pension scheme. We have annual guaranteed pay point increases as well as a cost of living
pay increase policy.

INTRODUCING SOS-International

SOS-International was launched in 2019 to support student and youth groups globally to lead on
sustainability and social justice. Our role is to connect, strengthen and scale impactful
initiatives – so together we can go further and faster. Our work is shaped by research and is
designed to support and strengthen our members.

SOS-International is currently hosted by SOS-UK, who is the legal employer of SOS-International
staff. SOS-International staff are part of the SOS-UK staff team giving them access to the rest
of the SOS-UK team for input, support and advice.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Membership and Engagement Manager for SOS-International you will take on an exciting role in
catalysing engagement and enhancing the impact of SOS-International for our members. You will
work closely with the Managing Director of SOS-International to develop a meaningful engagement
strategy. You will work with SOS-International and the Green Office Movement members to empower
and support them, facilitating collaboration and joint working, growing our membership and the
value of the movement.

You will also take a lead delivery role for centrally-delivered engagement projects like Green
Impact, as well as developing new opportunities for joint working with and between our members.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Managing Director to manage engagement with existing SOS-International members
    and contribute to outreach and onboarding of new members and partners.
  • Manage and grow the impact of Green Office membership through an annual support programme. A
    particular focus will be on supporting the regional Green Offices to facilitate community
    building and good practice exchange.
  • Support the activities of our closest partner organisations including (but not limited to)
    Global Student Forum, Oikos, All-Africa Students Union, European Students Union,
    StudentenVoorMorgen and Netzwerk N.
  • Actively celebrate and promote the work of the Green Offices internationally through relevant
    communication channels including social media, newsletters and websites. Ensure communications
    are clear, engaging, and aligned with our values.
  • Work with the Managing Director to develop and input on funding opportunities, partnerships,
    and prospecting for new projects to improve the capacity and value of SOS-International.
  • Work with SOS-UK Head of Research and Development to develop and utilise impact data about the
    impact of the SOS-International and its programmes. .
  • Develop and nurture meaningful relationships with key people in the organisations you are
    working with.
  • Plan, create and deliver workshops, webinars, events, summits, and pieces of consultancy work
    and resources for SOS-International and the Green Office Movement.
  • Represent SOS-International and the Green Office Movement across the sector, for example on
    judging panels, speaking at events, or writing for publications.
  • Regularly engage SOS-International members through membership meetings, quality communications
    and development of collaboration opportunities.
  • Lead on and oversee communications for SOS-International (emails, newsletters, emails, website
    and social media), including managing Communications Officer/s to develop impactful and
    relevant communications.
  • Coordinate and actively support Green Office Movement and SOS-International volunteers
  • Act responsibly and in line with SOS-UK policies related to data management and safeguarding.
  • Commit to ongoing personal and professional development and to ongoing learning about
    intersectionality, climate justice and anti-racism.
  • Undertake administrative tasks including, but not limited to, coordinating invoice and payment
    requests, risk assessments, volunteer administration, travel and accommodation bookings,
    personal and project expenses, and KPI reporting.
  • Carry out any other duties that might be reasonably requested of you in the post
