About the Project:
We are building a digital archive, Oral History of Feminist Organizations in MENA, featuring a series of audio and audiovisual interviews that capture the voices and history of feminist organizations across the Arabic speaking region. This archive is dedicated to documenting and preserving history of feminist movements throughout the region. We seek a skilled sound editor to elevate these interviews to professional standards and ensure clarity and quality.
Service Overview:
The Sound Editor will be responsible for enhancing the sound quality of 80-100 audio interviews. This initial phase, running through Nov-2024 to Marc 2025, offers the potential for a contract extension for an additional 100 interviews. We are looking for someone with significant experience in audio editing, a strong understanding of regional Arabic dialects, and a commitment to preserving the integrity of each voice. Further more time sensitive deliverable is key requirement and should be included in the financial offer.
Responsibilities:
- Edit interviews, enhancing audio clarity, balancing levels, and reducing background noise, in some interviews cutting based on the narrators request.
- Ensure consistent audio quality and continuity across all interviews
- Collaborate with the project team to align audio standards with the project’s objectives.
- Deliver edited files within agreed deadlines.
Requirements:
- Education background in sound engendering or relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in sound editing or sound production, with relevant samples or portfolio
- Proficiency in sound editing software.
- Native Arabic speaker, able to understand a variety of Arabic dialects from the MENA region
- English proficiency is a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
Financial Offer and Compensation:
Applicants are requested to submit a financial offer based on an hourly rate. Noting that single interviews range between 30 minutes and 2 hours. Competitive offers will be prioritized alongside experience and qualifications.
