The Sr Researcher – Development will execute experiments/processes within GMP/ECTL, troubleshoot experience using new or modified techniques and accurately record experimental procedures and data. This position requires a scientific background in the Biological Sciences and the understanding of the science behind the procedures. The individual must have technical skills and practical knowledge in analytical testing.

 

 

The Experimental Cellular Therapeutics Laboratory (ECTL) is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Sr Researcher to develop manufacturing processes for transformative cellular therapeutics for children with catastrophic diseases such as cancer, immunodeficiencies and sickle cell disease and participate in manufacturing of the cellular therapeutics in the GMP facility to support investigator-initiated clinical trials. The cellular therapeutics will include but not limited to Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cells, Natural Killer (NK) cells and Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs). The job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

Job Responsibilites:

  • Develop manufacturing processes that meet cGMP requirements for cellular therapeutic products.

  • Learn and maintain proficiency in required laboratory skills and actively pursue training in new laboratory skills or techniques.

  • Learn and perform product characterization assays.

  • Manufacture cellular therapeutics under cGMP regulations.

  • Effectively collaborates with Human Application Lab, Children’s GMP, Clinical team, Quality Assurance and Vector Lab to manufacture cellular therapeutics for clinical trials.

  • Learn and apply cGMP requirements for manufacturing cellular therapeutics.

  • Follow standard operating procedures, batch manufacturing records, and other relevant documents.

  • Work with extreme attention to detail in a highly regulated environment.

  • Work with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance of all production activities with: cGMP regulations, Code of Federal Regulations Title 21(21 CFR) part 210 and 211, Current good tissue practice (cGTP) regulations (21 CFR part 1271), EMA (European Medicines Agency), ICH (The International Council for Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use), Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapies (FACT)

  • Maintain electronic laboratory notebook and paper notebook system to document all laboratory activities. Always keep accurate dated records.

  • Report deviations to procedure promptly.

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and require some weekend hours as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the goals of the department and institution

 

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific area.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Two (2) years of research experience in R&D methods and processes in comparable industry setting (e.g., GMP/ECTL labs) and supporting research experiments/executing projects.

  • Proven performance in earlier role/ comparable role.

 

 

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 – $105,040 per year for the role of Sr Researcher – Development.
