Work under the general guidance of the Head of OSLap and in coordination with Project members as required.
Support OHCHR’s mission to protect human rights, empower people to realize their rights, and assist those responsible for upholding rights.
Conduct desk research on national and international accountability frameworks applicable to Sri Lanka, with a focus on enforced disappearances.
Gather and summarize information from UN agencies, NGOs, and academic publications related to accountability in Sri Lanka.
Maintain an up-to-date repository of resources, reports, and research materials on human rights violations in Sri Lanka.
Support planning and coordination of events and other activities carried out by OSLap.
Catalogue information and analyze data.
Research and analyze open-source materials.
Assist in research on specific areas of core international crimes.
Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
Demonstrate the ability to interact successfully with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including understanding and tolerance of differing opinions and views.

Qualifications and Special Skills
Be a graduate or enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master’s degree or equivalent, or higher) OR a graduate or enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent), preferably in law, political science, international relations, social sciences, or a related field.
Alternatively, have already graduated with a university degree and be able to commence the internship on the specified date if selected.
Professional work experience is not required.
Languages
Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of Tamil or Sinhala is an advantage.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
Additional Information
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
