THE ROLE:

Our summer student program provides an opportunity to experience real-world challenges, collaborate with diverse teams, network with other students and create a vision for your future career path.

Working with our Unconventional Development Data Analytics team in Calgary, this will be a full-time student position from May through August 2025. During your summer, you will gain exposure to the energy industry by attending sessions hosted by subject matter experts and will have an opportunity to showcase your learnings with your student network. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

  • Support various Digital data initiatives, working directly with Subsurface Data Lead.
  • Create scripts to extract data from pdf’s, excel, databases or other systems
  • Using Python scripting to manage enterprise-grade data engineering tasks
  • SQL scripting, including writing complex logic SQL statements, functions, triggers, and stored procedures.
  • Create data models and data pipelines
  • Create reports and analysis using  PowerBI or Spotfire, and able to explain trends and correlations
  • Develop data process mapping, data governance models and RACI.
  • Participate in various projects as needed

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Actively enrolled in an undergraduate degree or diploma program at a Canadian post-secondary institution, and must be returning to undergraduate studies after the work term
  • Pursuing a degree in Data Science and Analytics, Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • A strong passion for data modelling and development with languages such as Python and R
  • Expertise in PowerBI or Spotfire
  • Experience working in a Relational Database Management System (Oracle or SQL server)
  • Familiarity and curiosity with emerging cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
  • The ability to collaborate and build strong working relationships with your team, peers, and diverse business groups
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time and data management skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
