I. College Overview

Rooted in Central China, the College integrates Crop Science and Plant Protection to pursue high-yield, efficient, eco-friendly and sustainable production of staple crops including wheat, maize, rice, rapeseed, cotton and soybean. Our core research areas cover molecular mechanisms governing key agronomic traits, development and application of cutting-edge biotechnologies, germplasm innovation, breeding of elite new crop varieties, and creation of supporting green and efficient production models. Our research endeavors aim to secure stable supply of grain, cotton and oil crops, boost agricultural productivity, safeguard sound ecological environments and improve public health.

We boast two State Key Laboratories — the State Key Laboratory of Crop Genetic Improvement and the State Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology Resource Exploration and Utilization — alongside Hubei Hongshan Laboratory and 14 ministerial and provincial research platforms. We welcome outstanding global talents dedicated to tackling strategic and frontier agricultural science challenges and supporting the Rural Revitalization Strategy and sustainable agricultural development.

IV. Supports

(1) Leading talents with systematic, original research achievements of great academic influence, cross-disciplinary vision and capacity to lead large research teams will be：

1. Appointed as Distinguished Professor; eligible for tenured research positions at the State Key Laboratories and Hubei Hongshan Laboratory, and included in the university’s talent support framework.

2. Fully respected in shaping 5-to-10-year long-term research plans. The College will allocate sufficient human resources including professors, associate professors, postdocs and graduate students, together with well-resourced laboratories and experimental fields, plus ample startup funding to enable high-level, organized scientific innovation from day one.

3. Fully supported for leading major science and technology projects and talent training reforms. Special working groups from the university will provide one-stop guidance and follow-up services throughout the project lifecycle.

(2) Outstanding Young Talents with Top-tier representative achievements among peers, proven capacity to independently build research labs and great potential to grow into distinguished scholars will be：

1. Appointed as Professor or Research Fellow; eligible for permanent research posts at the State Key Laboratories and Hubei Hongshan Laboratory, and incorporated into the university talent support system.

2. May join a leading talent’s research team with clear division of labor across the group’s shared labs and farmlands, while independently heading a dedicated research group with matching startup funds, postdoc and graduate student quotas. Support is offered for academic visits to the world’s top 100 research institutions and substantive collaborations with renowned academic teams and leading industrial enterprises. Dedicated guidance will be provided by university and college teams during major project planning and key career milestones.

The College extends a special invitation to leading and young outstanding talents in Smart Agriculture, covering crop growth modeling, intelligent agricultural equipment, agricultural artificial intelligence, intelligent breeding, precision smart production, smart plant protection, macro agricultural research and climate change.
