Do you have a passion for cancer research? Do you want to understand how obesity and adipose tissue drive lethal prostate cancer and grow your career at a world-leading University?

A 3-year PhD studentship is available within the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College London, funded by Prostate Cancer UK. We will use spatial omics technologies to map the evolution of peri-prostatic adipose tissue during prostate cancer development and characterise the transfer of molecular information between adipocytes and prostate cancer cells.

The successful student will be embedded within the growing multi-disciplinary team of Dr Claire Fletcher, Dr Nil Grunberg and Professor Charlotte Bevan.

Requirements: applicants should hold a first or upper-second class honours degree or equivalent in molecular or cell biology, biomedical sciences, or a closely-related discipline, and a Master’s degree in one of the above fields. Priority will be given to candidates with experience in cancer research, handling of primary tissue samples, and a range of molecular biology techniques, although full training will be provided.

How to apply: applicants should submit their CV and a covering letter, including full contact details of two referees, to Dr Claire Fletcher (). Imperial College PhD entry requirements must be met and the successful applicant will subsequently need to apply online. For informal enquiries or further information, please contact Dr Claire Fletcher ().
