Your role
As a Tax Compliance Lead for VAT, you are responsible for managing the compliance process from preparation through to the submission of VAT and other tax-related filings for more complex cases. You review the work prepared by others, coordinate activities, and continuously look for opportunities to improve processes. In addition, you coordinate, coach and support a team of tax compliance analysts.
In this role, you will report to the Group Tax Manager.
Your responsibilities:
- You manage and coordinate the overall VAT compliance process, ensuring proper planning and execution.
- You are responsible for reviewing VAT preparations, submissions, reconciliations, and VAT accounting.
- You prepare and file VAT compliance formalities (including VAT returns, ECSL, client listings, 8th Directive refunds, etc.) within the applicable reporting deadlines.
- You take initiative in leading and supporting the tax coding and monitoring of the VAT setup in the ERP system, including performing quality checks.
- You assist with VAT-related setup linked to organizational changes, such as new VAT registrations and VAT cancellations.
- You communicate with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and queries.
- You support VAT audits conducted by local tax authorities.
- You assist in determining and setting up VAT-related automations, such as e-invoicing, SAF-T file requirements, and VAT tools within SAP or external software providers, including the preparation and follow-up of related filings.
- You take initiative and actively support VAT automation and process improvements.
- You prepare reports and error lists.
- You lead the team of tax compliance analysts, you actively coach and support them.
About you
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or tax and bring at least 7 years of hands-on experience in international VAT compliance, combined with strong analytical skills.
- You have a solid and up-to-date understanding of VAT rules, formalities, and legislation.
- You contribute positively to team spirit through your open & direct communication style, flexibility and your willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues.
- You are known for your hands-on mindset and proactive approach, taking ownership and driving initiatives forward.
- You have the ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical, workable business solutions.
- You demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills, combined with a pragmatic and business-oriented mindset.
- You bring well-developed coordination and coaching skills, enabling you to guide and motivate an international team of tax compliance analysts.
- You have a sharp eye for quality: you review work thoroughly, provide constructive feedback, and help elevate overall team performance.
- You communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with SAP is a very strong asset.
- You combine good project management skills with strong stakeholder management.
