Job Title: Tax Equity Investment Banking Associate or Vice PresidentLocation: Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Houston, or RemoteAbout the role: The tax credit advisory group at Marathon Capital is hiring an experienced Associate or Vice President. The candidate will be a core member of the group and will have a wide array of analytical, financial modeling and materials preparation responsibilities in support of the pitching and execution of tax credit related investment banking mandates. This position represents a unique opportunity to join a successful growing platform and get experience across all technologies within the energy transition sector that are incentivized by tax credits.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day aspects of wind, solar, energy storage, carbon capture, and green hydrogen tax credit advisory mandate origination and execution, including building financial models, authoring offering materials, conducting industry research and conducting marketing processes
  • Support all types of Marathon Capital investment banking mandates regarding financial modeling and structuring of tax credit monetization strategies
  • Support internal technical training initiatives
  • Build sector expertise in renewable and conventional power generation, power and utilities, energy technology and infrastructure
  • Pursue business development initiatives to further enhance the firm’s competitive position

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; finance or accounting degree preferred
  • Required work experience:
  • Background in renewable energy, including 2+ years of experience structuring, modeling, and/or executing tax equity financing or tax credit transfer transactions
  • Candidates are required to demonstrate:
  • Financial modeling skills, including ability to model U.S. partnership tax concepts and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Knowledge of or interest in energy transition, including renewable power generation, energy storage, power and utilities, carbon capture, and energy infrastructure sectors
