This role, based in Ghent (Belgium), will report to the Directors of tax in all areas of tax planning, tax accounting and tax compliance. This is a new role in an exciting dynamic company and will evolve over time.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Coordinate and oversee EMEA tax operations, including outsourced compliance, (pre)payments, withholding taxes, disclosures within statutory financials, etc.;
Prepare and review tax provisions and disclosures under IFRS and local GAAP;
Participate in in-house direct tax process set-up and improvements;
Partner on ad-hoc tax projects, provide training on technical and process updates to various internal stakeholders;
Lead statutory auditor interactions in EMEA legal entities;
Participate in tax audits and controversies;
Participate in the monitoring of international tax developments and advise on potential business impacts.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of Belgian and international tax experience with at least 2 years in a Big 4 accounting firm or law firm;
Biotech experience is a plus;
Tax accounting knowledge;
Degree in Law/Tax/Accounting/Finance;
Results driven team player with excellent communication skills;
Strategic but excited to be “hands-on” and detailed;
Able to work independently;
Knowledge of set-up and use of ERP systems (knowledge of Oracle and related tax modules are a plus);
