LOCATION: Thornton, CO
We are excited to announce a pilot program taking place at Thornton Elementary and Thornton Middle Schools for the 2024-25 school year. The pilot program will be effective August 1, 2024 pending ratification and Board of Education approval. Salaries for new hires will be set using the proposed Pilot Salary Schedule.
Job descriptions, contract length, and educator expectations are specific to the pilot program design. The District webpage will be updated as the details of the pilot are finalized and ratified. Program requirements for early career teachers and professional teachers are outlined in the job descriptions.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Works with Multilingual learners (MLs) in developing English skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening through the district’s guaranteed and viable curriculum for ML students. The ELD teacher collaborates with classroom teachers in ensuring best practices for MLs are implemented throughout the school day.

SALARY INFORMATION (FOR EXTERNAL CANDIDATES):
All salary placement on our Certified Salary schedule is dependent on the employees’ education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of contractual and/or work experience up to a maximum of ten (10) years, which includes in-district and out-of-district contractual teaching and/or work experience. Responsibility for verification of outside experience shall rest with the individual employee. For further explanation of salary placement please refer to our Certified Master Agreement that can be found on our district website.
Internal Candidates Only:
13.2.5 Voluntary transfers that occur fifteen working days before the start of the school year and until the end of the school year shall happen once the position being vacated has been filled, for a duration of no more than four weeks. This four week time period could be adjusted in consultation with the educator, current and receiving supervisor and with approval from the Chief Human Resources Officer and the Association President.
