Job Summary

The EL teacher provides daily, direct EL services for all identified English Learners in accordance with current district, state and/or federal English Learner (EL) guidelines. The EL teacher develops lesson plans and delivers group and individual student instruction within established district curriculum guidelines; collaborates with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom needs.

Essential Duty 1:

Delivers direct English language instruction/English Learner services to English Learners using grade-level standards, district curricula, and English Language Development (ELD) standards

Essential Duty 2:

Works in partnership with principal(s), classroom teachers, and school staff to create, monitor, and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for English Learners

Essential Duty 3:

Co-plans and collaborates with teachers to ensure appropriate instructional strategies and accommodations from Individual Learning plans are implemented in all classes

Position Specific Responsibility 1:

Provides educational services according to the guidelines of the state and federal guidelines and through the established service delivery model.

Position Specific Responsibility 2:

Leads the development, implementation, and monitoring of students’ Individual Learning Plans in accordance current district, state and/or federal English Learner (EL) guidelines.

Position Specific Responsibility 3:

Develops, implements, monitors, and assesses the English Language Proficiency of each identified English Learner in alignment with Individual Learning Plans

Position Specific Responsibility 4:

Builds collective capacity and lead professional learning at the school level

Position Specific Responsibility 5:

Communicates with parents in all aspects of their child’s English Language Development (ELD) services.

Position Specific Responsibility 6:

Participates on the school MTSS team to ensure appropriate instructional decisions are made to maximize support and achievement for ELs.

Other Responsibilities:

Performs other duties or tasks as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of the responsibilities in this job classification.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education (training/degree):

Bachelors’ degree in education or related degree.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations Required:

For elementary position – Must have a current Elementary and ESL Tennessee Teaching certificate or be in an eligible alternative licensure program.

For secondary position – Must have a current ESL Tennessee Teaching certificate or be in an eligible alternative licensure program.

Meal Deduction – Most Bransford office and district level employee have a meal deduction. They are scheduled 8.5 hours per day and get an hour lunch. Itinerants and retirees get a 30 minute lunch period and therefore do not have a meal deduction. All school based employees will not have a meal deduction. No Meal Deduction
