Train to teach with us!

All our initial teacher training courses lead to QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) and 60 Master’s Level credits.

We provide primary teacher training programmes for two age ranges: 3 to 7 and 5 to 11. Our 3 to 7 programme prepares you to deliver the National Curriculum for Early Years

Foundation Stage and Key Stage One, while also enhancing your knowledge of Key Stage Two. The primary 5 to 11 programme equips you to teach the National Curriculum for Key Stages One and Two, while also developing a strong understanding of the Early Years Framework.

Our secondary teacher training programme equips you with the knowledge and expertise to plan and teach your specialist subject across Key Stages Three and Four (11 to 16). You will develop your pedagogy and practice; learning from highly experienced colleagues who have taught the subject successfully in secondary schools for many years.

Entry Requirements

We are looking for trainees with the potential to become a great teacher, who can demonstrate an enthusiasm for working with children and young people.

  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  • GCSE 4 (C) or above in English and maths and a science (for primary trainees) or equivalent.
  • We consider candidates with pending GCSEs.
  • We consider candidates who need to take a GCSE equivalency test in English, maths or science.

Key Benefits

Train in great local schools

You will build your knowledge and skills with two contrasting school placements. The first placement runs from September to December, and the second from January to June. Our schools offer excellent training environments, where you will be supported by great teachers and leaders – who may even become your employer!

Learn from experts

Key learning will take place at centre-based training, applied in school and embedded into your teaching practice. Our pioneering curriculum is informed by leading national and international academics and informed by the deep practical wisdom of local practitioners.

Fully supported

You will be immersed in classroom practice from the very start, but you will not be alone. Your mentor will oversee your learning journey along with the lead mentor, subject lead and a dedicated central team; all devoted to ensuring your success on our programme.

Prioritise your well-being

We encourage you to protect your well-being throughout the curriculum, but also by providing access to specialised support for those who need it. We take note of your transport needs and, where possible, seek to place you in schools that are conveniently located for your individual circumstances.

Enjoy state-of-the-art facilities

You will have easy access to the programme curriculum and digital learning. With free parking, our centre is equipped with the latest technology, including free Wi-Fi and video conferencing. Other core and subject training sessions will take place at local centre-based locations, delivered through a combination of face to face and remote facilitation.
