1 with the possibility of splitting into 2 (If the candidate from the priority pool has the qualifications for both UESTC students and grading/review sessions then this will be one (1) position otherwise we will hire two TAs one for UESTC students and one for grading/review session)

Position Summary:

TA working 90 hours: Oversees and evaluates small group student presentations held on a weekly basis via Zoom with students in our partner university UESTC in China. Willingness to work mornings (approx. 8am-9:30am) or evenings (approx. 8pm-9:30pm) is required. Also assists course coordinator in running exams, grading, answering questions by email and online and other basic course management tasks. The TA may be requested to run several review sessions at the discretion of the course coordinator. It is possible to split the job into 2 positions: 1 overseeing small group presentations with UESTC students and 1 running exams/grading/review sessions for students on campus at McGill.

Qualifications:

Current Masters or Doctoral student at McGill.

Graduate teaching experience is preferred and an asset. Students who have already taken and passed NEUR 631 will be given priority. English required, (written French and/or spoken Mandarin would be a plus). Must be eligible to work in Canada

Please note that given the resumption of most in-person teaching activities in the Fall, Teaching Assistants will be required on campus to perform their tasks in person. Should government restrictions prohibit the resumption of in-person teaching activities, courses will revert to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Teaching Assistants will be advised as soon as possible. Teaching Assistants may be required to perform tasks suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform [e.g., Zoom, WebEx] and the McGill myCourses learning management system.
