Job Description and Duties

Within the context of Office of Correctional Education (OCE) Academic Program requirements, regulations, and guidelines, and under the supervision of a Supervisor of Academic Instruction, and under the direction of a credentialed academic teacher, the teaching assistant shall give support to teacher(s) by providing educational services to assigned/enrolled students.

The teaching assistant’s duties involve: tutoring one-on-one sessions; facilitating small group sessions; correcting student homework, quizzes, and other class work; assisting in testing students; working with the teacher to assist with monitoring student progress; tracking program completions; assisting with tracking attendance and, other routine classroom duties.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).
