ATTENTION:

The Learning Technology Center (LTC) at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a Teaching, Learning & Technology Consultant (Teaching, Learning and Technology Specialist II, TL004).

JOB DETAILS:

The major responsibility of this position is to be a champion for pedagogically sound and effective use of technology for instruction, particularly in supporting the university’s efforts to be leaders in both generative artificial intelligence (GAI) and accessibility. Primary activities include leading teaching pedagogical and technological professional learning efforts and supporting instructors in the pedagogically sound use of technology in their courses to increase student success. The person in this position will also be responsible for assisting with projects related to campus-wide initiatives that technologically and pedagogically support teaching, learning, and student success. The successful candidate must have effective communication (e.g., listening, written, oral) skills and have a passion for assisting users representing a wide range of technical skills/aptitudes in creating rich, meaningful learning experiences. This position is in the university’s Learning Technology Center (LTC) and reports directly to the Director of Learning Technology.

This position may be eligible for partially remote status upon successful completion of an on- campus probationary period.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in instructional design or related field
  • Experience with multi-modal course delivery
  • Familiarity with prominent technologies in contemporary higher education (e.g., learning management system, artificial intelligence, multimodal learning, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse audience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching professional development in higher education across multiple modalities
  • Experience consulting with instructors and/or programs on course design and learning technologies (e.g., managing learning management systems, implementing student response systems, curating on-demand instructional resources)
  • Demonstrated record of creating effective learning experiences (e.g., documentation, consultations, workshops, training programs, etc.) that serve constituents with varied technological backgrounds/skills
  • Demonstrated passion for creating rich, meaningful learning experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Professional Learning and Support Programming (Instructional Technology and Pedagogical Practice Emphasis) 

  • Develop and support professional learning workshops related to technology and pedagogy in synchronous as well as asynchronous spaces (e.g., generative AI script-writing, on-demand resources advising strategies for quality course design)
  • Design and lead/co-lead cohort-style professional learning programs (e.g., Online/Blended Teaching Institute, course improvement exercises)
  • Provide recommendations for innovative instructional development related to technology and/or pedagogy

2. Instructional Support

  • Provide one-on-one and one-on-group consultations to instructors and programs on pedagogically sound design and use of technology in teaching (e.g., artificial intelligence, accessible course design)
  • Assist instructors in the appropriate selection, development, and use of technology tools to enhance teaching in all modalities
  • Assist instructors on course redesign strategies to transition courses from one course modality to another
  • Support instructors in the pedagogically sound use of the university’s Learning Management System
  • Assist in the development of strategies, resources and appropriate documentation for the pedagogically sound use of technologies supported by the LTC
  • Assist with efforts to measure the efficacy and impact of LTC programming

3. Professional Development 

  • Maintain expert knowledge and awareness of trends, methods, and technological advances in the industry and profession
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities related to the position, as required

4. Other Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and attend meetings, conferences, and events (in person and/or virtual) relevant to the position, such as System events (e.g., OPID conference, LTDC) and UW-Whitewater’s Celebrating Teaching and Learning Conference, as required
  • Complete other duties as assigned

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $55,000 – $61,000.
