Position Information Bilpin Public School is a small school with a current enrolment of 40 students with a teaching principal. It is situated on Darug Land. The school culture is that of connectedness, inclusion and belonging with students, staff, parents and the wider community working together to promote school excellence. The vision of Bilpin Public School is that every student is known, valued and cared for. The focus is on high expectations where students have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Student success is underpinned by engaging and explicit teaching from committed teachers. High quality teaching and learning is valued and the classroom focus is on challenge, engagement and achievement. Bilpin Public School fosters a strong collaborative culture, and focuses on evaluative practices through learning alliances with the Hawkesbury Science of Learning and Reading Collective, the Small Schools Network and the Colo Learning Community providing high impact professional learning opportunities for staff. These systems facilitate professional dialogue, collaboration, classroom observation, the modelling of effective practice and the provision of specific and timely feedback among teachers within and beyond the school in literacy, numeracy and transition. Bilpin Public School has an active and engaged P & C who contribute to decision making and have built a strong connection with families and the wider community. Student voice is valued and the school community have high expectations. The school fosters stronger partnerships with Aboriginal families and community members, as well as the AECG, to support teachers in delivering culturally relevant curriculum.

Specific Selection Criteria 

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary. Experience as an educational leader who demonstrates the skills, knowledge and understanding of the dual role of teaching principal. 

Decisive, transparent, and visible leadership with high expectations to lead change in ways that motivate commitment to continuous improvement with students at the centre. 

Evidence of exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to visibly engage with the entire school community in authentic ways. 

Proven capacity to develop strong relational trust and a positive wellbeing culture resulting in high quality teaching and learning.

General Selection Criteria 1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department’s Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP2 for 2024 and also for 2025.
