Position Information Manildra Public School is situated on Wiradjuri country in western New South Wales approximately 40 minutes’ drive from Orange and Parkes. Manildra is home to the largest flour mill in the southern hemisphere and a canola mill which play a vital role in the town, especially in regards to employment. 

The school has a current enrolment of 40 students, 17.5% that identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 2.5% with English as an additional language or dialect. The school operates with 3 multi-stage classes and is staffed by a teaching Principal, 2 full time teachers, 1 part time teacher and a part time librarian. Students enrolled in the school live in the township of Manildra, and surrounding properties. The school provides After School Care which is run by Cabonne Council.

Manildra Public School is a part of the Cowra Small School Network. As part of this alliance, staff engage in professional learning and collaborate and innovate with each other. The Orange Small Schools Association allows students to partake in sporting teams and events like swimming and athletics carnivals.

Manildra Public School has a highly engaged and very active P&C that values collaborative partnerships with the school.

The parents and community value the wide range of extra-curricular activities provided to the students. These activities include collaborating with other small schools in the network on enrichment activities including all aspects of High Potential and Gifted Education.

As a result of our situational analysis, we have identified the need to utilise the following high impact teaching strategies: data use in teaching and assessment for learning. Through utilising these initiatives we will improve student growth in both reading and numeracy. Quality teaching practices including collaboration and explicit teaching will ensure teachers have the opportunity to improve their practice and enable students achieve expected growth in all subject areas.

Specific Selection Criteria 

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.

  1. A highly visible, approachable, communicative and collaborative leader who builds positive, authentic relationships with all members of the school community to foster a positive inclusive school culture.
  2. Proven ability to strengthen community ties and enhance parent involvement, coupled with a strong focus on promoting student wellbeing and supporting the emotional and social needs of all students. 
  3. An outstanding, dynamic educational leader with a refined ability to lead staff in ongoing strategic improvement, modelling very high levels of relational trust and demonstrating a proven history of driving embedded and sustained improvement in student outcomes and overall academic excellence.
  4. A demonstrated collaborative leadership style with a strong understanding of equity and the capacity to interpret and implement the NSW Plan for Public Education

General Selection Criteria 1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department’s Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level 2 for 2024.
