 The South – East Asia Region (SEAR) of WHO is made up of 11 countries, with over 1.9 billion people, with India’s population of 1.4 billion. All the Member States of WHO/SEAR (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Timor-Leste), share the common value of the highest attainable standard of health as a fundamental human right. All  WHO actions are based on this and rooted in the underlying values of equity, solidarity and participation.

The mission of WHO India is to improve quality of life people in India by supporting the government in prevention and control of mental health and substance use disorders, ,  psychosocial issues during health emergencies, palliative care and elderly care in the country etc and strengthening health systems for UHC.

Duties: 

Under the direct supervision of NPO (Mental Health & Substance Abuse) and under the overall supervision of Team Leader (NCDs and Comorbidities/RMNCAH) and in close coordination with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the incumbent will perform following duties:

  • To coordinate and provide technical support for training, supervision, monitoring and implementation of activities of select national programmes, being implemented in the States/UTs.
  • To facilitate cooperation between the different health programs being implemented in the States/UTs
  • To visit States & Districts where these programs are being implemented to undertake supervision, monitoring and coordinate program & policies of Government of India
  • To assist in developing the guidelines for undertaking supervision, monitoring and evaluation of the select health programs.
  • To plan and organize meetings with concerned officials for coordination within the programmes.
  • To examine the PIP proposals received from the state/UTs and give comments.
  • Compile and update the monthly performance reports and prepare presentations on
  • performance of select programmes.
  • To support in preparation of training plans and implementation of the same in the states/UTs.
  • To support State health program managers in strengthening the programmes.
  • To facilitate operational and health system research projects under the different programmes.
  • To perform any other duties related to the programmes

Education:

Essential:

  • University degree in medical science or equivalent or any significant health-related degree from a recognized university. 

Experience: 

Essential:

  • Minimum one year experience in relevant field of public health system, training, monitoring, evaluation, IEC, etc., with working knowledge in computer applications.
