Our work depends on a Technical Writer & Communications Lead joining our team to support the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) Modernization Initiative

At GDIT, we put our people first. As a Technical Writer & Communications Lead supporting the HSRA OPTN program, you will be responsible for developing and managing TOs on a large federal IDIQ contract.

HOW A YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Research and compile technical data for use in various operations and maintenance manuals, training materials, system design documents, and other technical documentation.

  • Collaborate with technical staff to help translate requirements from complex concepts and technical language into content comprehendible by a general audience.

  • Develop, gather, and disseminate technical information through an organization’s communications channels.

  • Obtain data from review of documentation, interviews with client and project personnel (SMEs), drawings, schematics, reports, and the study of published material.

  • Research and gather technical, process, and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables.

  • Prepare, edit, revise presentations, talking points, news articles and other documents.

  • Developing outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and stakeholders ensuring that final documents meet requirements and regulations.

  • Execute quick-turn communications tasks or initiatives for senior leaders.

  • Translating technical information into clear, readable documentation to be used by both technical and non-technical users. Documentation includes:

  • Technical documents

  • Business proposals

  • Process, procedures, guidelines and workflow artifacts

  • Memos and reports

  • User manuals and knowledge base articles

  • Status reporting, briefings and presentations

  • Functional descriptions and system specifications

  • Other project deliverables and artifacts to meet contract requirements

  • Creating, maintaining, organizing and maintaining SharePoint repositories

  • Develop and execute communications plans designed for deliverables, status reports, stakeholder engagement and other specific initiatives.

  • May involve some supervisory/task lead responsibilities.

  • Ability to travel up to approximately 25% if needed. 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical or clinical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.

  • 5 + years of technical writing and, or technical editing experienc

  • Proficient with Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.

  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and relationship management.

  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, growth-focused environment.    

  • Experience with process development and process management  

  • Stakeholder communications and engagement experience

  • Experience with discovery, system development, and process implementation methodologies

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with dynamic priorities and firm deadlines.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Agile, Scrum, and/or ITIL certifications.

  • Experience with Cloud Services, Security, and Risk Management

  • Health IT related project execution experience

  • Experience working with and/or practical knowledge of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)

SECURITY CLEARANCE LEVEL:

  • Must be able to obtain up to a Public Trust Level 5 clearance with HRSA.

The likely salary range for this position is $69,722 – $79,350. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
