Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.

The Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP) is responsible for leading FAO’s response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture and rural development through the identification, planning and implementation of FAO’s priority activities in the region. It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the Organization in the region and, in collaboration with offices, divisions and centres at headquarters, develops, promotes and oversees FAO’s strategic response to regional priorities. RAP also advises on the incorporation of regional priorities into the Organization’s Programme of Work and Budget and implements approved programmes and projects in the region, monitors the level of programme implementation and draws attention to problems and deficiencies. RAP develops and maintains relations with region-wide institutions including the Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs). The Regional Office supports regional policy dialogue on food security, agriculture and rural development issues, facilitates the emergence of regional partnerships, and supports capacity development and resource mobilization for food security, agriculture and rural development in the region.

Purpose

The objective of the Call for Expression of Interest is to attract talent in different administrative areas for the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. The Call will create a roster of Applicants that will be used to identify candidates to be hired under Personal Services Agreement (PSA) National (PSA.NAT).

Below there are some examples of different functional areas covered by the roster:
• Office and Administrative Support

Reporting Lines

The incumbent reports to one or more Professional Staff Officers and receives guidance from other colleagues in the work unit. He/she acts independently in routine matters. Supervision received is focused on the quality of the work performed and provides for on-the-job learning.

Technical Focus

The incumbent performs a large variety of routine operational, administrative, and logistics services and office support functions. He/she contributes to the smooth and efficient running of the work unit and delivery of the organizational unit’s programme and projects.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• National of Thailand or holder of a valid work permit in Thailand at the time of application.
• Secondary School Education.
• A minimum of three years of relevant experience in related positions.
• Working knowledge (Level C) of English.
• Knowledge of the MS Office applications, internet and office technology equipment.
• Proficiency in corporate electronic databases and systems would be an asset.

Technical/Functional Skills

• Be able to learn new knowledge, skills and adaptable to changes and new work environment.
