Primary Purpose:

To provide parents of emergent bilingual/immigrant students with English instruction so they can effectively communicate with their student’s school staff and support their student’s education

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• Education Degree

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with speakers of other languages preferred
• Major Responsibilities and Duties:Prepare and deliver English acquisition lessons for adult learners who speak other languages
• Work with individual learners or small groups during instructional time
• Assess the learner’s progress
• Uphold and enforce district rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy

Working Conditions:

• Mental Demands:Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
• Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office and instructional equipment including personal computer and Peripherals
• Posture:Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding, and use of a mouse, occasional reaching
• Lifting:Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
• Environment: Classroom setting

This position is reviewed annually based on available funding.
