Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University invites applications for tenure-track positions at the assistant or associate professor level in the Department of Pharmacology. Successful candidates will join a group of supportive colleagues who conduct research across diverse disciplines, including cell signaling and growth control, gene expression and ‘omics approaches to cancer and age-related disease, host-pathogen interactions, ion channel biophysics and electrophysiology, metabolic and liver disease, pulmonary medicine and translational pharmacology, therapeutic target development and drug discovery. We value innovation, curiosity and collegiality, and seek candidates whose research addresses impactful questions in fundamental and/or translational science that complement and diversify our department’s existing strengths.

A cornerstone of Rutgers Health, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) is home to collaborative faculty with federally funded research programs, interdisciplinary Ph.D.-level graduate training programs and outstanding core facilities including genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, high performance computing, genome editing, confocal microscopy, human neuroimaging, and cryo-EM, among others.

 

Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent terminal degree. Assistant Professor applicants should demonstrate strong postdoctoral research productivity and clear potential for developing an independent, externally funded research program. Associate Professor candidates must have a sustained record of original research and established funding. All candidates are expected to contribute to teaching graduate and medical students in biomedical sciences. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience. Applicants should submit: (1) a cover letter describing  their interest in Rutgers directed to the Faculty Search Committee; (2) a curriculum vitae; (3) a one-page summary of important contributions to science; (4) a two-page description of future research plans; (5) a statement describing their approach to inclusive teaching and integrating diversity in pursuit of academic excellence; and (6) full contact information for at least three references. All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment screenings.
