Join the research environments at Umeå Plant Science Centre and at IceLab (Integrated Science Lab) as tenure-track Assistant Professor focusing on modeling plant stress responses.
Application deadline: November 1, 2024
Umeå University’s interdisciplinary research hub, IceLab, has been awarded a grant by the Swedish Research Council to establish a center of excellence: Center for modeling adaptive mechanisms in living systems under stress.
In the frame of the center of excellence, we are now opening a tenure-track Assistant Professor position focusing on plant stress responses with employment at the Department of Plant Physiology, Umeå University, which is part of Umeå Plant Science Centre. The position presents a unique opportunity to establish your research group and develop your independent line of research aligned with the Center’s theme. Join our supportive environment and work at the forefront of multidisciplinary science. We integrate mathematical modeling and data science with diverse disciplines, including ecology, plant physiology, and molecular biology.
Your research will be instrumental in improving our understanding of the processes that govern the responses of living systems to environmental change and stress. Specifically, the research will focus on understanding how plants respond and adapt to stress in close collaboration with researchers from IceLab and Umeå Plant Science Centre.
The position is limited to six years, with 75% research 25% teaching or other meriting tasks, with the opportunity for promotion to Associate Professor upon successful evaluation.
Umeå Plant Science Centre, UPSC, is one of the strongest research environments in experimental plant biology in Europe. Here, you will have access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure and support from more than two hundred plant researchers representing about 42 nationalities. Our research spans from biochemistry and molecular biology to physiology and the ecosystem level, with more than 30 independent principal investigators.
IceLab is Umeå University’s interdisciplinary research hub. At IceLab, we foster multidisciplinary collaborations – focusing on innovative research that integrates theoretical, computational, and empirical work. We are looking for a person who can bridge these two strong research environments in Umeå.
