POSITION TITLE: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position In English Language Development and Bilingual/Biliteracy in K-12 Education
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
The College of Education is committed to developing critical anti-racism/social justice scholars and practitioners who recognize that we live and work in diverse institutions and communities. The College offers two Bachelor’s degrees, P/K-16 Teaching, Counseling, and Administrative Credentials, numerous Master’s degrees and a Doctorate in Education.
As a comprehensive College of Education, faculty collaborate with professional communities to prepare educators and school personnel to serve as agents of positive social change. The college gives access to professional careers to students with diverse identities and backgrounds, and contributes to their professional growth. The Teaching Credentials Branch prepares teachers and teacher leaders who are committed to equity, access, and inclusion in culturally and linguistically diverse schools and communities. Our vision is to be the regional leaders in preparing and developing excellent teachers. In collaboration with our schools and communities, teachers prepared at Sacramento State create and sustain equitable inclusive educational environments which are designed to optimize access and student success. The programs’ sequenced and integrated design results in highly focused instruction interwoven with hands-on teaching experiences, sustained mentoring, and personalized advising. Faculty members also provide academic and professional support to local programs, teachers, administrators, and counselors, as well as engage in collaborative or joint research, scholarly projects, presentations, and professional development.
POSITION DETAILS:
JOB DUTIES:
This is a full-time, tenure track position within the Teaching Credentials Branch of the College of Education. Teaching schedule may include day, afternoon, and evening courses. Faculty members teaching a full load typically teach 3-4 courses per semester and supervise candidates. New faculty will be given release time in their first two years and some faculty may receive units for coordination, or could have release time for work on grants, research, and other special projects.

The classification annual salary range for this position is $64,860 – $143,928; the anticipated annual starting salary is $74,642.

Out of State Employment
Per CSU-wide policy (HR2021-04), all faculty who will begin initial employment (or return from a 12-month break in service) on or after January 1, 2022 are required to perform their work from within the State of California. Faculty hired prior to January 1, 2022 must be available to perform work in the State of California if their assignment is in-person.
