The Faculty of Education invites applications from Black Scholars in the field of Social Justice for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank, commencing July 1st, 2024. Mount Saint Vincent University aims to correct historic underrepresentation; therefore, this position is restricted to applicants who identify as Black/of African descent.

The candidate will have a strong academic background in one or more of the following areas: Africentricity, social justice, critical social theory and pedagogy, culturally responsive and relevant pedagogy, anti-racism, and/or post-colonial studies.

The applicant should hold a doctorate (or evidence of near completion) in Educational Studies or a relevant field. The candidate will have lived experience and a demonstrated record of engagement in Black communities would be an asset (e.g., African Canadian or African Nova Scotian communities).

The successful candidate will be able to teach courses in both the B.Ed. and graduate programs. Experience teaching at the K-12, B.Ed. and/or graduate level will be considered an asset.

An additional letter of reference may be included from a referee who could speak to the applicant’s engagement in Black communities. The Faculty will begin considering applications on April 30th, 2024. The position will remain open until it is filled.
